A well-secured event starts with thorough preparation. Whether it's an intimate party or a large-scale festival, the right security measures are essential. Here is our complete checklist:
Preparation (4-6 weeks ahead)
- Risk assessment: Map out all potential risks based on the event type, location, and expected visitor count.
- Security plan: Create a detailed security plan with positions, tasks, and communication lines.
- Permits: Check which permits are needed and apply in time.
- Personnel planning: Determine the number of security officers based on the risk assessment.
Just before the event
- Briefing: Give all security officers a comprehensive briefing about the event, location, and emergency plan.
- Communication tools: Test all radios, earpieces, and communication channels.
- Site check: Walk through the location and check all entrances, exits, emergency exits, and first aid stations.
During the event
- Access control: Check tickets/badges and conduct searches where necessary.
- Crowd management: Monitor visitor flows and intervene in overcrowding situations.
- Incident registration: Document all incidents immediately and completely.
After the event
- Evaluation: Discuss the proceedings with the team and document improvement points.
- Reporting: Deliver a complete security report to the client.
